You MUST use a kernel update for UnitedLinux-1.0/SLES-8. The Oracle
certified kernel is available in the Service Pack 1 for UL and also
as individual update package on the SuSE Maintenance Web. The version
of the SMP kernel rpm is 2.4.19-196.

The current and recommended kernel is 2.4.19-304, part of Service 
Pack 2a.
