Catalogs are saved as QuarkXPress documents, with an option to then save as Acrobat PDF files. Some uses for QXP PhotoBook are printing out thumbnails of images contained in a folder, or cataloguing a CD library of images to QuarkXPress files. QXP PhotoBook accepts any image format accepted by QuarkXPress including PDF and GIF, as well as formats not supported by QuarkXPress, such as Adobe Photoshop files, by choosing to import the PICT preview of images, or by using third party XTensions. Users create catalogs by drag and dropping files or folders onto PhotoBook's window or icon. Many formatting options are provided, allowing users to choose page size, colors, fonts, captions and headers and footers. The fully featured caption option can - by using simple tags - automatically write a variety of information about the image to the caption, such as the file's name, size or dimensions, and more. The patch will only work with Sherlock 3.0.2. To remove banners from earlier versions, download the other editions of Nobanners. Most banner programs simply alter the search plugins in your system folder; this one modifies three resources in the Sherlock application itself, displaying only gray space instead of an obtrusive banner. If you would rather make the modifications yourself, you can use Metrowerks Constructor. Use this program at your own risk. I am not responsible for the consequences. I think I've got an extreme version of that problem. To see this, go into Excel, enter the numbers 1 through 255 in one column and then type =char(xx) in the next, where xx is a cell reference to the left in the 1-255 column. This gives you the character that correspond to the ASCII code. (Please correct me if I get any of this wrong.) Do this several times and change the font to a different one for each column (say one column Geneva and the next Times New Roman). Note that the characters corresponding from 1 to 127 are the same for both but the ones from 128 to 255 may be different. This is certainly true when comparing Geneva and Times New Roman. In fact, if you check 165, you see the bullet/yen switch. If you do the same thing in Excel on Windows, you see that the Times New Roman may differ between the Mac and Windows versions of that font. Switching bullets and yens I can deal with, but on our Tektronix 740 and 750 printers (using the drivers from the Tektronix Web site), the curly (smart) single and double quotes become unprintable. This is a major problem when getting something written by somebody (most other people) on Windows machines.
