

These x11perf test results are published in the October 14th, 1991 
issue of "Unix Today!", page 44. 

In all cases, x11perf was run locally on the test configuration listed
in Table 1 of the article. If an Open Look window manager was available,
that was used, otherwise Motif was used. However, the window managers
made no appreciable difference in the test results. 

Each X implementation was tested in 640x480 color VGA mode. Changes
had to be made to the x11perf v1.2 benchmark in order to run at that
low resolution. The changes were as follows:

  1. The WIDTH and HEIGHT variables in x11perf.h were changed to
     450 instead of 600.

  2. The GetImage 500x500 square test [ -getimage500 ] was changed
     to only get a 400x400 square, line 704 of do_tests.c.

The following command line was used to run the tests:

   x11perf -all -bg red -fg blue
