2000-05-18 -+- Buck Pyland -+- bpyland@NOSPAMprimary.net -+- Another way to test your sendmail.cf after restarting sendmail is to run 'sendmail -bt' from the command line. At the '>:' prompt, enter '3,1,10,4 dede@localhost.localdomain'. The set of 4 numbers are the addressing rules to apply to the following mail address. A few lines will print on the screen, but the last one should have the matching mail address from your /etc/mail/genericstable.db.

So all the clients in abc.com are using mail locally with address username@abc.com. The problem we are getting is that we have remote user with abc.com accounts. So when we are trying to send mail to them mailserver search locally and give username not exist. We want to route the mails of some users through SMTP with same domain name. How is this possible.

I am from india (mumbai). We have a Cable Net Connection provided by hathway. I have configured a linux box to act as a gateway and give users access to the internet via squid. I have configured both sendmail and fetchmail for sending and receiving mails. The sendmail acts as both a Internet/Intranet Mail Server. The fetchmail has been to access mails from my domain which is bom4.vsnl.net.in. Now when i configure my .fetchmailrc file to accept only new mails and also leave a copy of the mails on the server, it gives me a error. Here is the configuration of the .fetchmailrc file:

poll bom4.vsnl.net.in
proto pop3
user "test"
pass "test123"
is * smtphost myproxyserverIP
keep

with the above configuration when I run:
fetchmail -a -F -d 300 -L /var/log/fetchmail_usr.log

I get the following error:
Both fetchall and Keep on in deamon mode is a mistake!, and fetchmail does not run. I need to keep the mails on the server. How can I go about it.
Also help in configuring the fetchmail for specific users on the windows Outlook Express will be helpful.

Thanking you,
