If you want to learn more about DocBook, I suggest two other LinuxFocus articles:

#152, in the issue of May2000: Making PDF documents with DocBook
http://linuxfocus.org/English/May2000/article152.shtml

#201, in this very issue (May2002): Editing DocBook XML Documents
http://linuxfocus.org/English/May2002/article201.shtml

Those will completely take your fears away :-)

I have been considering doing a GPL project. I need some good Project Management tools like Work Breakdown List, Task Lsit, Gannt, Pert, Calendar and the like.
I would like very much to use XML as the internal language (SVG) for the Graphs and Gannts. Your article has helped convince me that XML is the way to go. Thanks and keep up the good work. -+- 216.12.121.148 = Mozilla/4.61 [en] (X11; I; Linux 2.4.18 i686) 2002-07-12 -+- Floris -+- floris-(at)-linuxfocus-dot-org -+- Ah well, some new information.
You probably know that with .gif, you can do animated images.
.png does NOT do this, but there is a format calles .mng that uses .png and adds animation. It's called Multiple-image Network Graphics, more info is at http://www.libpng.org/pub/mng/ ...

And in other news, the KDE project has nearly-complete SVG viewer code in CVS, so expect nice SVG support in KDE 3.1 (or later).

1) I did not get enough time to play with the technology
2) I did not think that most open source environments grokked it enough

Example: Perl/Pyton had very good APIs to soaplite but PHP did not.
PHP did had a few classed from some people who absolutely needed it, but
were either not clearly doucmented or not part of the PEAR etc.

Since most of the immediate advantages of using SOAP are web based, I
didnt think that excluding PHP was a good idea.

For the same reason I have delayed introducing SOAP to my project

great website.
I am starting to learn XML to display arabic characters, and was hoping this site will help me in that direction.
when I click view source to see how the arabic words were displayed, I see the arabic words not the unicode! can you please help me with that.
also, are there any articles, books, sources translated to arabic using XML that I could look at as a reference? Please let me know.
